Diana McLaughlin is the newest addition to our coaching staff team of support. She, like many who have found their way to triathlons, grew into the sport after many years of experience in other athletic adventures. As a youth she did gymnastics, dance, lacrosse and eventually cross country, which fueled a passion for running that eventually led to being named an All-State Cross Country and Track runner in her home state of New York and earned her a scholarship in college.
Later armed with a degree in Exercise Science and a minor in Sport Psychology, Diana managed Corporate Wellness at Johnson & Johnson. Her personal athletic journey became tough with some minor injuries she sustained in her quest to run a marathon. This eventually led her to doing some cross training and then the next step in her personal athletic journey, which was the sport of triathlon. From 1991 to 1997 she trained and competed in sprint and Olympic distance races, and then in 2000 did her first and what was going to be her only Ironman at Lake Placid. But the bug bit hard. Diana turned in an impressive 13 Ironman finishes in the next six years of racing!
Several years ago we spotted Diana as a MarkAllenOnline client posting on our Forum. Her responses were so thoughtful, knowledgeable and thorough that we hoped to have her working with us. Well, that time has come! She is now part of the MarkAllenOnline email and Forum support team. Diana brings that extra something that you just cannot learn unless you have been there yourself and understand how training and racing really works in the body. We hope you enjoy her input to your questions and her thoughts on your posts.
